This vintage decorative desktop globe was made in Italy. These globes were commonly produced during the mid-20th Century, particularly in the 1960's. It features an old-style map with celestial or zodiac signs around the equatorial ring. The globe is usually made of paper lithograph over a metal sphere. It sits in a wooden base. This globe is often referred to by the phrase "IL Giro Del Mondo which is Italian for "The Journey of the World".
The globe plays music if you turn the globe correctly. A sticker on the bottom says "Swiss Musical Movement ". After it is wound, the globe turns as the music plays. I do not know the tune.
Comes from a smoke free home and a home with cats.
